5 Reasons why Buying a Property on a Golf Resort is a Great Investment
Whether you are a golf aficionado or just a spectator of the sport, there are plenty of good reasons for buying a property on or within a golf resort. Nicholas Pratt, from AIPP Member agents, Start Group, is a golf development property expert and is here to tell us just why buying on a golf course makes sense.
If you are considering buying a second home or just looking for a new location to live, let´s explore the top reasons why you should consider buying on a golf resort……
Here on the Costa del Sol (from where I am writing this!), this part of Southern Spain is also known as the Costa del Golf, and with good reason. You can find over 70 golf courses between Torremolinos and Estepona, some of which hold worldwide recognition such as Valderrama or La Quinta.

Landscaping and Manicuring – A golf resort is always impeccably kept and well maintained. The areas around the courses are equally well maintained, with manicured gardens, hedge rows and verges. Roads and street lighting are also kept in tip top shape, all important factors when it comes to buying AND selling a property. Those first impressions will last forever.
-
Views, tranquility and star gazing– Golf courses are renowned for being located in privileged positions with spectacular views. Mountain views, sea views, river views, fairways views and big blue sky views. Imagine sitting on your terrace overlooking the golf course and mountains with the sea in the distance and only the sound of the club hitting the ball and the occasional “fore”. Imagine no more if you buy on a golf resort. If you are lucky you might see the occasional celebrity on the golf course, and at night you can enjoy star gazing and twinkling lights in the distance.
-
Lifestyle – The areas around a golf resort are usually ideal for a long stroll or a jog. Also the air is clean and fresh there not being much traffic around, golf buggies are electric these days so no pollution there! Then you have the golf clubhouse, almost always open to non-members especially on the costa del sol. These are usually a place for great socializing and networking. Food and drink standards are generally high, and often a night you will find live entertainment happening, perfect for when you have family and friends visiting.
-
Nature – Being close to nature is considered to be a great health benefit, as well as pleasing to the eye. A golf course is surrounded by an abundance of flora and fauna, with hundreds of varieties of trees, plants, shrubs and flowers. For each season of the year you will be blessed with an array of colours and aromas adorning your property. Then you have the various wildlife to observe; small birds of prey such as Bonelli´s eagle, Golden eagle, Osprey and Kestrel hovering or circling in the skies above, certainly a majestic spectacle.
-
Security – Whilst golf resorts are generally quiet and do not attract any cause for alarm, developments are usually patrolled at night to ensure no trespassing or vandalism occurs. This means that a patrol car is usually nearby, giving you extra peace of mind.
