The Orange Blossom Coast - the Spanish Costa the locals like to keep for themselves
With mainly Spanish visitors, this glorious beachy stretch is dotted with lighthouses and watch towers while inland castles and exquisite white villages cling to the rocks.
Valencia specialists, Azahar Properties, have been member agents of the AIPP for over ten years and take the name of the coast they are passionate about, the Costa del Azahar or Orange Blossom Coast. So named because, you guessed it, the abundance of orange groves that typify the area. Here, they give us the low down on why the Spanish costa you may never have heard of should be firmly on your radar!
The beautiful region of Valencia along the orange blossom coast is one of the most desirable places to live in Spain. Valencia offers a great lifestyle shared and enjoyed by friendly natured people and of course the heart-healthy Mediterranean cuisine. To complement this way of life, you have a wonderful climate, breathtaking countryside coupled with competitively priced real estate. What more could you wish for?
Low property prices
Valencia’s property market is growing stronger with international property buyers coming from all over the world to purchase their homes abroad, in the sunshine province of Valencia.
To add to this desirability, the property prices in the Valencia area are lower than those of its immediate neighbours. We have Barcelona to the north and the Costa Blanca region is an hour south of Valencia. The international airport of Valencia has many of the low-cost airlines that fly here directly from the U.K and Europe. This area is easily accessible thanks to its excellent infrastructure that is made up of good roads and motorways and Valencia’s airport and high-speed trains.
With one of the many low-cost airlines flying into Valencia airport daily, there is an abundance of visitors who come here to soak up the sunshine, the culture, the city, and the beaches and a few even decide to call Valencia their forever home and eventually buy a property here.

Unlike the more overpopulated areas of southern Spain where you have concrete jungles of urban real estate, Valencia’s properties are generally much more charming. Once out of the city centre, there are many towns dotted throughout the countryside that are within a thirty minutes’ drive from the city and the coast, where you can still find some wonderful properties that are available at great prices.
For example, you can buy a detached, three-bedroom villa with a swimming pool starting from around 100.000 – 150.000 Euros. Most of them have countryside views and outside kitchens from where you can learn to cook your Sunday afternoon paella. There are so many areas to choose from in this region that are within close enough proximity of the city and its beaches, all of them equipped with supermarkets, coffee shops and restaurants.
The areas half an hour south west of Valencia city are ideally located and are very popular with international buyers. The towns of Montroy, Monserrat, and Real are three towns situated almost next to each other, therefore offering a wide variety of amenities and properties for sale, a perfect place to start for any property hunter. Situated just twenty-five minutes from the airport and Valencia city, and close to some larger shopping centres like IKEA.

Following further inland, are the towns of Turis, Alborache, and Macastre. Macastre is situated at the gates of the National parkland mountains and has stunning panoramic scenery. The town is white-washed and is kept immaculately clean by its proud residents. Only thirty minutes from the airport of Valencia and you are surrounded by nature.
Other popular areas are the towns just outside the north west area of Valencia, like Vilamarxante and Lliria. Here too you can still find many well-priced properties for sale, with the benefit of a metro station from Lliria town into Valencia city.

Another important and desirable city within the Valencian province is Xàtiva. Xàtiva‘s rich historical past is everywhere, from its beautiful churches to its rustic courtyards and fountains. This historic city has a majestic castle overlooking it. Xàtiva has an excellent rail connection service in and out of Valencia city with fast trains.
Just under an hour south of Valencia city, you have another desirable city called Ganida. Once again, Gandia has impressive blue flag beaches, a friendly city centre with a backdrop of mountains which run close to the coastline making this area also very popular with buyers as it is situated close to the northern part of the Costa Blanca.

Real estate in the Valencia area remains competitively priced, therefore the region still attracts many buyers who can forecast and see the increased growth in popularity of this wonderful area of Spain. There are still bargain properties to be bought here, making it easy to realise a good return on your investment especially if you are looking at a refurbishment project.
There is also a strong demand for rentals in Valencia. More and more people are buying properties here as part of their long term investment or pension plan that can generate an immediate return on investment. For example, an average but tidy three bedroom villa with a swimming pool can achieve a minimum of 500 Euros rent per month. Other villas can achieve much more depending on their size, the number of bedrooms, facilities, and of course their location.
