Buying property in Montenegro - why it is worth a closer look

Ranked by Forbes as one of the safest places to travel post-Corona virus in Europe, it is defined by EBD as “one of the most beautiful destinations in Europe for travellers in love, for foodies, for nature lovers and a haven of peace for nature, trekking, walking or cycling.”

Officially declared the first corona-free country in Europe, Montenegro has managed an exceptional job in controlling and expelling the virus, showing their commitment to providing a safe environment for both residents and guests.

Thank you to AIPP Members, CMM Investing Consulting Group, for providing us with this insightful article. They can be found at:

A closer look

Montenegro is a Mediterranean country, know as the Pearl of the Adriatic. Based in the heart of coastal Europe, Montenegro distinguishes itself with mild climate (over 250 sunny days per year), affordable prices and traditionally healthy lifestyle. This hidden gem of nature, where mountains meet the sea is also protected by UNESCO. Montenegro is likely to be the fastest-growing travel and tourism economy in the region. Montenegro has high investment potential as it is a safe hub for international business and investors.

Let us take you on a short tour…

On our journey throughout the coast of Montenegro, 30 minutes from Herceg Novi into the Bay of Kotor we are stopping in Risan. Founded as a small but beautiful village, Risan traces its origins to the ancient settlement of Rhizon, the oldest settlement in the Bay of Kotor. Lying in the innermost portion of the bay, the settlement was protected from the interior by inaccessible limestone cliffs of the Orjen mountain, the highest range of eastern Adriatic, and through several following narrow straits in the Boka Kotorska from the open sea. You can swim on the Adriatic coast in the morning and go snow skiing in the mountains in the afternoon.

The earliest mention of Rhizon dates back to the 4th century BCE, as the main fortress in the Illyrian state where Queen Teuta took refuge during the Illyrian Wars. Five mosaics are the most valuable remains of that period – not only for Risan but also for Montenegro.

The best-preserved one shows Hypnos, the Greek deity of dreams. It is the only known image of this kind in the Balkans. The second Risan Bay archaeological locality is the Lipci Rock. The drawings could not be exactly dated, but some people believe that they date back to the very beginning of the 8th century BC, which would be the Bronze or the Old Iron Age, while others link them too much older periods.

From May to October you are most likely to experience good weather with pleasant average temperatures that fall between 20 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius. On average, the warmest months are June, July and August. Risan can be accessed by bus and car from Kotor (20 min drive) and Herceg Novi (35 min drive).

Risan is 25 km from Tivat airport, it is 18 km from Kotor Old Town, and it has connotations of peace and serenity with the fantastic charm of the Adriatic coast. The majority of Montenegro’s most ravishing towns are found in this small stretch of land, none more impressive than the eponymous city itself. Every turn brings another quaint village, each with its own intangible allurement and undeniable beauty. The Promenades of Budva, Kotor, Bar offer the vibrant sensibility of a great European destination,

The epic panoramas you’ll encounter while touring are for worth your time. Montenegro is an outdoor utopia for the sports lovers and adrenaline junkies. Hiking, biking, kayaking, rafting, canoeing, and zip lining are just some of the adrenaline-fuelled activities that will provide you with an unforgettable and unique experience. A new trend rising is connected to sports travels and some young Montenegrin startups can offer you amazing fitness and yoga experience, too!
